With only 7.6% of early-stage businesses currently being owned by 18-24 year olds, the UK has the potential for drastic growth in the number of young people becoming entrepreneurs over the coming years. Increasing this figure is the challenge that Luca Schnettler, founder of HealthyHealth, is trying to tackle. Hosting the event Henkel x HealthyHealth – Entrepreneurship in B2B Environments, at the Founders Factory on 12th September, Luca and guests discuss the need for young, dynamic input within the world of innovation, and provided useful insights for young entrepreneurs to encourage them on their startup journeys.
At the age of 19, Luca founded HealthyHealth, a startup looking to digitalise health assessment. Customers simply share their digital data so that the HealthyHealth algorithm can calculate an accurate and individualised medical risk profile, removing the need for lengthy questionnaires and doctor’s visits. Whilst providing a valuable service to consumers, HealthyHealth also partners with Health Insurance companies to streamline their underwriting journey, improving efficiency and reducing cost through automation. This is a great example of how, by bringing a fresh perspective and a shift in thinking to a well-established industry, young entrepreneurs can provide a valuable service to businesses. His passion for inspiring young entrepreneurs to consider developing a B2B startup led him to host this event at the Founders Factory, which had a number of guest speakers, and opened the floor to a selection of high-growth startups doing just this.

Thoroughly enjoyed being the key note speaker at this morning’s London Market Forum’s Change and Business Transformation Practice Group – focusing on the increasingly crucial people aspects of change within the London Market.

I dared to be different.

Exactly a year ago I dared to be different by launching a brand new consultancy company. The vision for Merlin Digital Consulting Ltd was to bring the latest technology innovations & digital thinking to the critically important insurance industry – for everyone’s benefit. In April, I was joined by Sue Collins as my PA and then in October by Karen Foreman (ex-Ageas) as our Senior Consultant. I am so pleased to say that in the last 12 months we have had the privilege of helping many incumbent insurers, InsurTech start ups and technology companies from across the world (literally!) – UK, Europe, Nordics, Australia and the US. With every company facing very similar challenges and of course opportunities to grow, the winning approaches we saw included; absolute customer centricity, business and IT agility, seeing digital disruption as a positive opportunity, trialling new ideas quickly and cheaply, using timely rich data with AI to “surprise and delight the customer” and, crucially, embracing the learning at every stage. Our first year of helping companies grow has been very engaging, highly motivating and, importantly, great fun!
There are some excellent predictions for 2018 on Linked In at the moment. I will simply comment that every insurance company, intermediary, vendor etc.. will face increasing levels of change and those that embrace this as a positive opportunity and dare to be different will flourish.
So, a huge thank you everyone – our customers, partners, associates and of course many friends. As a very good friend said to me in Israel, “business is personal” and, of all Merlin’s achievements, I rate the brilliant network of friendships as our greatest.
Happy New Year to you all and may 2018 be everything you wish it to be… and be different, I dare you!
